What's the different between hypnotherapy and hypnosis?

All hypnotherapy includes hypnosis- but not all hypnosis is hypnotherapy. Hypnosis is the induction of a state of consciousness where the individual is highly prone to suggestion or direction. Used for the therapeutic purposes of reworking belief systems, and modifying behaviour.

Is Hypnosis sleep?

You are not asleep or unconscious during hypnosis, you are actually very likely to hear every word and be very conscious to what is happening. We experience natural trance states almost every day, when driving, watching tv, or reading a book. Natural trance occurs when we are focused and relaxed, time may go by quicker as we zone in to what we're focused on.

What if I can't be hypnoztised?

Everyone who is willing to be hypnotized- can be hypnotized! Other than that, only ones who likely cannot are those who are completely unable to focus. When I work with clients, I ensure that we are a right fit, have a clear goal in mind, and are completely comfortable with the plan to get from point A to B.

How many sessions will I need?

For hypnotherapy, most clients say that they reach their goal in 5-7 sessions, but everyone is different. I like to begin by offering 3 sessions in combination with Yoga Nidra recordings to supplement the work we do together, and help you to develop a consistent mindfulness practice. I believe you are your own greatest teacher, and aim to emphasize this by giving you the tools that allow you to access your own inner wisdom.

Will I lose control?

No, you will be in complete and total control throughout our session- and will find over time even more control over your thoughts and actions in your day-to-day. You will only accept suggestions that are positive and beneficial to you, and are even able to give suggestions to yourself while in hypnosis.

Does hypnosis really work?

This is one of the most common questions about hypnosis, and the answer in short is yes, it absolutely does. There are plenty of scientific studies providing evidence of its effectiveness, in addition to plenty first hand accounts. I encourage my clients to do their own research, and read all that they can if they are curious about how hypnosis can help them.
